Can You Show Us Your Signature Dance Move?
Let’s start with a question about dancing. This question is a funny way to ask a PNM about them, especially when the organization you belong to has nothing to do with music and dance.
Talking about dancing in a book club or in a Greek sorority is definitely going to be a humorous experience. If they do dance, and I expect that they’ll be bad dancers, you and the other members can share a hearty laughter.
When You Walked In Here, Did You Feel Like You Were Making A Mistake?
Another question to ask someone who is joining your club or fraternity is “When you walked in here, did you feel like you were making a mistake?”
They are not going to want to admit to making a mistake but I guess you can meet someone who’s bold enough to share some humor during their induction.
What’s The Weirdest Nickname You Have Ever Had?
One funny question that you can ask a PNM is “What’s the weirdest nickname you have ever had?”
Let them take you back to a time they heard a funny nickname. If you had planned to give them one, compare the nickname with their answer and ask them which they thought was weirder before slamming the name on them.
This is especially nice if you are in a group that does nicknames instead of real names.
Do You Have A Favorite Dad Joke? Can We Hear It?
Dad jokes are a rare hit but I know there are some we’ve heard that made so much sense. You can get the induction of a new member lively by asking them what dad joke lives rent-free in their head.
If they do not know any you could ask them about pun games, word plays, or any random joke that had them in stitches.
Do You Have A Very Impressive Talent That’s Useless? Can You Show Us What It Is?
You can also ask your new member “Do you have a very impressive talent that’s useless? Can you show us what it is?” for some laughs.
There are things we can do that seem to be there for nothing. You might be awed to note some of the impressive things they can do but since the emphasis is on something that is useless, it will make their demonstration funnier.
If You Had To Change Something About The Way The Moderator Is Looking, What Are You Going To Change?
Try asking the new member “If you had to change something about the way the moderator is looking, what are you going to change?” if the group is made of young people and often full of roasts.
It might not be the moderator, you can find someone who’s worth roasting and allow the new member to get a shot at them. You can make it even more interesting by giving room for the new members to roast themselves.
You Are Stuck In A Horror Movie And You Have To Tell A Joke To Survive, What Joke Would You Tell?
Also, try this question to get the new member to give you their best line from a joke. You could ask this question while in the general meeting just to get the newie to crack the group up a bit. They could turn into actual standup comedians since they have to save their life.
What Is The Most Useless Club Or Fraternity You Have Heard Of On Campus And Why Do You Think They Are Useless?
You can ask the new member for their take on other frats or clubs in school. This is going to come in handy when the club you belong to or the group in question is in a college setting.
“What is the most useless club or fraternity you have heard of on campus and why do you think they are useless?” is a question that gives the prospective new member the chance to diss some other group.
If You Didn’t Need To Join This Club For Any Formal Reason, Would You Still Be Here?
People have different reasons why they join groups and for some, it is because of a very formal or official reason. If there are underlying benefits of being a member of your group and it was possible that could motivate some new members to join, then you can ask them this question.
What Is The Funniest Thing That You Have Observed Since You Arrived Here?
Try asking the new intake about what they consider the funniest observation they have made about the group. It could be something about the location, the seating arrangement, how the members are dressed, the decorations on the wall, and more.
When you ask them this question, I expect that they must have seen something they thought was funny as they observed the group or its members.
Suppose You Find Out That We Are Cannibals, Would You Still Sit Comfortably?
Imagine the shock that will be on the faces of the new members when you tell ask them “Suppose you find out that we are cannibals, would you still sit comfortably?”
Some will want to teleport from the meeting venue. You can also ask them “How would you react if you found out that we conducted human sacrifices on the final Friday of each month?”
These questions are going to get the inductees in the most uncomfortable shape for the old members to have a good laugh.
When Was The Last Time You Stepped Out Of Your Comfort Zone And Did You Like It Or Wished You Hadn’t?
You can also ask them “When was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone and did you like it or wished you hadn’t?” and their answers could be hilarious.
When they go down memory lane on this issue, the only reason they might not like it was because of the consequences of stepping out.
If Your Life Was A Sitcom, What Do You Think It Would Be Called?
Use this question to find out the state of the person’s sense of humor. When you ask them what the title of their life would be if it were a sitcom, it allows them to share funny stories about and from their lives.
It can also reveal who they are and what their perspective about life is. Take note of those who are willing to talk about their lives in a light-hearted manner.
What’s The Silliest Thing You Have Done In A Group Before?
Another funny question that you can use to get to know the new member is “What’s the silliest thing you have done in a group before?”
This question can help you determine the character of the person and what their tendencies are. It could be funny but there are lessons to learn from it.
If You Came Late To An Event And You Didn’t Have A Legitimate Excuse Why, What’s Your Go-To Reason?
I have heard some very bizarre reasons why someone was running late and I am sure you have used some too.
Because of this, I am sure you could get to know what the PNMs think will suffice as an excuse when they are late.
What Is The Most Ridiculous Rule You Think You’ll Implement If You Became A Leader?
People have a lot of ideas about what they’d want to do when they become leaders. “What is the most ridiculous rule you think you’ll implement if you became a leader?” is a question that is going to let you know what they think about leadership.
The rule they may have in their mind could be hilarious.
Can You Tell Us What The Strangest Compliment You Have Ever Heard Is?
Sometimes, people’s compliments can be funny and I am sure you’ve gotten some before. So, let’s see what the potential new member has to say about them.
With this question, the PNM could get everyone laughing. You can use this when the PNM is a beautiful lady or a dude who looks really good.
What’s The Funniest Meme You’ve Seen In Recent Times?
You can also share a laugh when they tell you about a funny meme they have seen recently. Memes are popular so if they say the one that was funny to them, it might remind a handful of the old members and you guys can share a laugh.
What Will You Consider The Most Awkward Thing You’ve Ever Done On A First Date?
First date experiences are usually awkward. When people meet for the first time especially members of the opposite sex, you can expect them to make lots of mistakes. I have had a fair share of mine and expect that the group is going to laugh at what the new member feels is the most awkward thing they’ve done on a date.
Is There A Book You Think Had The Funniest Ending Ever? What’s The Title And Can You Narrate How It Ended?
Lastly, this is a good question that will send ripples of laughter across the group. They can narrate something about how a book ended which to them was funny. Such a question is good when you have a book club or the group is about something that relates to literary activities.
